  1. They had sticks tied together with leather, and the sheaf of oats lying beside it. Then a man would catch one stick and slash the oats with the other, he would twist it over his head first. Then they would take out the oats on a windy day so as the wind would clean the chaff out of it. The oats would be heavier then. They are in some houses yet.
