    3. After the battle of Aughrim a landlord named French came to live in Woodlawn, County Galway. At that time a widow woman and her son was living in Woodlawn. She was owner of Woodlawn estate and the man came and asked her to give him the estate or he would hang her son. She gave it to him and that was the start of the landlords in Woodlawn. We know nothing about his family until 1820 when he sold his vote to the English Government for a quarter million pounds
