    In this Monument, lie, or were laid to rest the remains of this once powerful Earl, also those of his father and son. William was the first of his family who conformed to the Protestant religion. He was reared and educated in the English Court, hence his lack of stability in the faith of his fore-fathers.
    William's father and grandfather were spendthrifts and spent money recklessly. It was during their time that most of their money was forfeited and possession also, and that they almost sank into obscurity.
