  1. The following are the cures which the people had long ago.
    They used to creep under an ass three times and then bless themselves three times as a cure for the Whooping Cough. If a person had a wart he would point a gooseberry at it; that was supposed to be a cure. Another cure they had was to rub goose grease on a burn to heal it up. They used to give a piece of bread to an ass to eat and then eat the crumbs that fell from his mouth; that was a cure for the Measles.
    People used to roast salt and out it in a stocking and tie it around their necks as a cure for a sore throat.
