  1. Long ago when Daddy was a young man he had to go to Portumna with a pig. On a Thursday morning about four o'clock he set out on his long journey and at nine o'clock he reached the town where he got some refreshments.
All day long he stood in the fair and at five o'clock he got a buyer for the pig. He lodged in a Hotel in the town that night and early next morning he arose, ate his breakfast and started on his journey homeward.
He arrived home about eleven o'clock and worked as usual for the remainder of the day.
Now he often talks of all the trouble he had walking thirty Irish miles to a fair.
