  1. Shops were not plentiful in olden times as they are now, but sometimes people went long journeys to buy and sell. People often went to the town after Mass to do their shopping.
    Less than sixty years ago there were no draper shop in Lanesboro and people from Lanesboro walked to Roscommon to buy their clothes.
