  1. There was a man living near Callan who was very fond of drink. Father Carrigan who was P.P. at the time was a very cross man. Once day he met this man going to a meadow with a jar of beer to the working men. He had met with a number of friends in the public house who treated him to plenty of beer, and made him almost drunk. Just outside the town on his way along he met the Priest who noticed he was very fond of drink. The Priest accosted him and said "Well John what have you in that jar" Begor beer for the men in
