  1. Those old cures have been told by Mrs B Carthy N.T., Donard, Clonroche, who heard them 40 years ago from her grandmother Mrs Bridget Howlett, who died in January 1930 at the age of 96.
Warts: 1. Making sign of the Cross on the warts with fasting spittle for nine mornings.
    2. Making sign of Cross three times on the warts with water found on a hollow stone when not looking for it.
    3. Putting stones in a bag - one for each wart, then throwing the bag on the road and the person finding it was supposed to take the warts.
    4. Rubbing the warts with a snail and then sticking it on a bush thorn. When the snail withered away the warts disappeared.
Whooping - cough: 1. Going in and out three times under the body of a he-ass.
    2. Eating a piece of bread and butter got from a woman whose surname was the same before and after marriage.
    3. Syrup made from flowers of Red Clover.
