- 1. It is believed that in a family where seven boys or seven girls succeed each other the seventh child has a cure of a running sore commonly called "The Evil"
2. A child who is born after his fathers death is supposed to have the cure of the Whooping cough by giving a lock of his hair to the person who has the disease.
3. In some districts it is considered very unlucky for a child to be born on Whit Sunday or during Whit Week. It is believed that anyone whom the person may strike may be seriously or even fatally injured. Even a simple blow from such a person may have fatal results. A "Cingise" is the term usually applied to such a person. The same belief is held regarding animals born during that period and people always sell such animals(continues on next page)
