- Some of the Bailiffs of long ago were very cruel. The Landlords of our property was Major Vasey. He was a good man. Mr Flaherty was the Bailiff. He lived in our village. The people used to be evicted. When they used to be evicted they went to America and to foreign lands. Long ago the rent was very big untill the land lords were put out of the country. The farmer had to give one tenth of their stock and tillage and everything they had to the land lord.
