    take out all the weeds and then they are moulded to put the clay up on the top of the young tops to keep them strong. Then they are sprayed with melted blue-stone. When they are ripe they are dug with a digger. The seed potatoes are taken out from the big ones and sent away to England for seed. The big ones are kept for eating purposes and the small sized ones are given to the fowl and the animals. There are a lot of kinds of potatoes around this district; there are Arran Pilot, Arran Victory, Kerr's Pink, Early Rose, Champion and Gladstone.
