- The moss which grows on the bark of the trees and bushes is usef for making dye. With this dye stocking, jumpers gloves and many other things were dyed.
First they used to boil the moss and when it was boiled they took out the moss and boiled the garment in the water for fifteen minutes or so and when the garment was dry it was a nice pale red.
Another dye which they used was the blossom of the burge.
