    sewed together and covered with a white cloth on which eyes, nose and mouth were put on with tar or ink.
    When the head was sewed to the body the doll was complete, and used to last longer than the machine made dolls.
    Another toy that the children of Ireland used to make was match doll which took only six matches to make.
    First of all three matches were got, and and the head of one was placed between the head of the other two. Then a hole was put through the three of them and a piece of were kept together which made the legs and body.
