  2. On Saint John's night all the children gather together and go round gathering turf to make a bon-fire. When the fire is made they dance and sing round it. And each one when going home brings a coal of fire with him. In olden times the people brought milk to the bon-fire and the bought loaves and sweetcakes and had a tea-party round the bon-fire.
