  2. The Big Wind
    In the year eighteen hundred and thirty nine there was a big wind. It started early in the evening and was very severe during the night. The wind was so strong that it blew the roof off some of the houses in our district and knocked some of them as the people had only one room to live. It knocked trees in the woods and blew the walls off the fields and any stock that were under the walls got killed. It lasted for about one night.
