They say Saturday is an unlucky day for getting married. It was a custom to shake salt on the young boys and girls that would'nt be married in shovetide.
The night of the wedding the straw boys come dressed in rags. They come into the house watching porter to drink. The colour of clothes they usually wear when they are getting married is blue. It was a custom long ago when they got a glass of wine the night of the wedding they threw the glass on the ground.
