    It was only rich people that had slated houses long ago. All the poor people lived in thatched houses. The houses were first covered with heather and straw was put on top as thatch.
    There was a small room beside the fire called a hag. In it there was a bed in which the old people slept. The walls were made of stones and mortar. They were then whitewashed. The lights
