- There were more houses in this district in ancient times. Some of these houses were thatched and were built of stone and mortar, others were made of mud and were roofed with scraws and heath. The scraws and heath were got in the bog and straw was used for the thatched houses.
The stone houses consisted of a kitchen and a bedroom and a hag, and the mud houses consisted of a kitchen and a hag. The hag was a little room out of the kitchen with a bed in it(continues on next page)- Collector
