- The old people long ago always said that Wednesday was the luckiest day to get married. When the people were coming home after getting married they used to hurry because it was said that the first one that went into the house would live the longest. When the bride is coming home she should put her right foot in the door first. The day before the marriage an oatmeal cake is made and when the bride comes in she is struck with the cake on the head.
