  1. Once upon a time and old hare used to come and suck the cows in a village called Ballycastle. One day a crowd of men followed her with hounds. They were following her all day and in the evening they got her in a corner, but she passed through them and went into a split of a rock. A few days after that they saw her again and followed her but with little success. The third day followed her through the mountains to a little house. She jumped in the window and then one of of the hounds jumped and pulled one of her legs off. The men broke in the door and found an old woman sitting by a fire. They asked her did she see a hare. When they said that she turned into a hare again and when the saw she had only three legs they knew it was her so they left her alone and it is said that she was coming to the for fifty years after that.
