- Up to about fifty years ago the people of this district had no delph vessels in their home for holding liquids.
They used instead noggins. The largest of those were about the width of a small tin can but only about half that height. These were used for holding suacháin and milk. There was a wooden handle on the top.
The sizes of these noggins varied from the size of tin-can to that of a porringer. The small ones were used for drinking from.- Collector
