- About two miles and a half from Bonniconlon on the West side on the old road which leads to the Gap is a bridge which is known in the locality as "Droichead an Franncaigh"
When the French were on their march from Killala to Sligo one of their army was killed. His comrades buried him there. Inside the bridge is a large flag which it is said marks his grave.
As people pass by they throw in a stone over the bridge.
Farther on is a lake known as "Loch na nGunnaí" where it is believed the French threw their guns as they passed by it.- Collector
