This place is about three miles from the town of Westport. This tower was partly destroyed in the Cromwellian period and another church was built in later years.
There are the remains of an old church in the townland of Cushlough in a place called Eriff. This was probably a temporary building which the people used for saying Mass until they could afford to build a new church then they abandoned it.
