- The people died in great numbers of the plaque in 1832. It wiped out whole families. All the victims were buried in the grave-yard of Baca Duagha about three quarters of a mile west of Killala. The graves may be seen to this day. There was a house built called the cholera house, used as a hospital for the victims. It is now a farm house, but it still retains the name of the cholera house.
The names of the victims are not borne by the people of the district at the present day.- Collector
