- We have two cows ared and a black. We call the place where they are kept during the winter a stable. We bed them with straw and rushes. They have a good supply of milk in summer but in winter they dry with the bitterness of the weather.we churn three times a week in Summer and once a week in Winter. We use a common churn. It is about 1⅔' high. It is made up of four parts namely the body, the dash, the "caipin", and the lid the churn is barrel shapped and the dash is worked up and down when churning the milk.When the milk is churned(continues on next page)
