- "Carraig an Aifrinn".
The meaning of "Carraig an Aifrinn" is the rock of Mass. It is called that name because there was Mass said on the rock in the Penal times. It is situated on my father's land in Doonaroya. In the Penal times there lived a priest in our village called Father Sullivan. He used to say mass on a rock in our land every Sunday. He had to hide on the hill that time and he came down on Sunday to say Mass. The people of the townland supported him during the Penal times. he died during the Penal times when he was about to read Mass. He was ninety years when he died.- Collector
