Pat Meade of Bishopstown, Lismore took off his boots and ran after a hare and captured him below in Camphire Island.
Great Walkers
Maurice Divine, Ballinvella, Lismore, Co. Waterford walked to Cork, a distance of forty five miles with a sample of twigs and returned back next day and had them sold.
Bridget Greehy, Camphire, walked to Youghal, a distance of twelve miles with a basket of salmon fish on her head. She left in the morning at eight a.m. and returned back at six p.m.
Great Jumpers
Garret Colbert jumped Lismore canal a distance of twenty-two feet. A big crowd from the town were looking on.
Powerful Swimmers.
Danny Boy, Barrack Street, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford dived from Cappoquin Bridge, a height of fifty feet and then swam ashore.
Great Mowers
Thomas Kiely. Knockanore, Tallow mowed down four acres of corn in a day.
Harry Canning of Owbeg started to mow down a 5-acre field of hay of a moon-light night at 6 pm. He had it finished at 7 am in the morning.(continues on next page)- Informant
