    Leaca na Greine is the name given to a patch of mountain which belonged at the time of the composition of the song to Dick (Muiris) Fitzgerald of Cladagh, Clashmore. In those days the land was tilled with considerable toil but the result hardly paid for the labour expended on it. Dick Muiris had several small houses on his land. The ruins are still to be seen. His daughter married a man named Hickey from Kilbrien and he planted a few acres of Leaca na Greine with furze for horses. Even he was sorry for that because
