- About 43 years ago a vessel called the Moresby sailed into Dungarvan harbour for shelter. It was on Christmas eve and a terrific gale was blowing. The captain, not knowing the water struck a sand bank. The Ballinacourty life-boat came to their assistance but the captain refused to leave the boat.
