    Once upon a time there lived a very poor man whose name was Long John. One day his wife told him that she could not keep him no longer. Next day he went to seek work. John was not able to do any work. He went to a farmer and asked for work. The farmer told him to tackle the horses. He put the winkers on the horse's tail and the straddle on his head. When the farmer came out and saw what John had done he told him to be off at once. John came home. His wife asked him did he get any work. He told her he
