- Long ago there lived in Tigh na Laighne a strong smith named James Cowmey. One day he was going to a funeral and he brought his horse with him. He was late and wanted to go by the short-cut. The horse would not go over the fence. He got off the horse and caught him and put him over the fence.
- Long ago there lived a great smith named O'Brien, from The Nire. He was a strong smith. He wanted to make a dray, a pair of wheels and a creel. One night he went to the wood for the timber.
