- (continued from previous page)She soon returned and said that there was a priest saying Mass in a corner of the field. Her father thought she had suddenly lost her senses and was only raving and of course did not believe her. It was very soon discovered that she had seen the apparition all right. The startling news spread from to house and soon several people were there to witness it. The next night most of the people of the parishes visited the place and by the third night the strange and startling news had spread so far and wide that there were several thousand people on the scene.
Besides the country people large crowds came from the surrounding towns of Carrick, Waterford, Dungarvan and Clonmel. There was no motors in those days but every jarvey car from the the above towns were there fully loaded with passengers. The strangest part of it all was that only a small portion of the huge crowd could see the apparition at all and some saw it far different from others.
