    all of the marriageable young men and (young) women for twenty miles around. Most marriages used take place during Shrove tide. As regard which of the days of the week were most popular there is an old rhyme which runs as follows:-
    Monday for health
    Tuesday for wealth
    Wednesday the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
    Friday for Crosses
    Saturday no luck at all
