    to carry them under their arms to near the church and then them put them on. When they carm to the same place coming they took them off again. The people used (wash) wash their feet every night and if they were afraid to go out in the dark they would throw a spark into the water. This was done because it was thought that it would keep the fairies away. There was shoes maker in the Parish exep except Davy Halpin but he only repaired shoes and boots. There was a young cobbler here about twelve months ago. He lived in a little house bear the Gorge. His name was Higgins and he came from a place called Teurs.
