    Swift Walkers
    John Fleming school-master at Rathgormack was a noted great walker. He walked against a Mr. Kelly from Killcash and defeated him. The contest was held in John Walshs field of Bridgetown. The race was a mile and a half nine or ten rounds of the field and Fleming was declared the winner.
    Athletic sports were held in that field.
