    porridge and sugar again. Milk was drink at every meal. Buttermilk was mostly drunk.
    The people sat on boxes and long seats around the table which was placed near the wall. They eat oaten bread. This was made with oatenmeal and water and baked on a griddle. Sometimes they had salt meat. The people did not eat late at night nor did they eat much meat.
    On Easter Sunday people boiled a large saucepan of eggs. When they were cooked they put them on a plate in the middle of the table and everybody could take as many eggs as they wished. Before cups became common people used tin mugs and saucepans.
