- Places which have peculiar names won them from some incident or other. One peculiar name is the "Lord's Walk". The Lord's Walk is situated on the road that runs from Sandycove Station. The reason it is so called is as follows.in the year 1910 when the Prince of Wales visited Ireland, he walked through the lane, with his brother on their way to Killiney Hill. After that, it was much frequented by the lords and nobles of the land. Only the swanks walked there. At present it is barren and desolate and after dark no one will walk through it.
