- Long ago people had the following way of curing warts. They would get a snail (black) and rub it on the warts for three days. Then they would stick the snail on a thorn of a white-thorn bush and when the snail rotted the warts rotted.
- The old people used to think that the first person of the district to have a nettle in the well on the first of May would have good luck all the year round. Now the people of Ireland call this an old superstition but plenty of old people do it yet.
