- The Knather Lough is about half a mile from Ballyshannon. It is said that there are Dane’s pipes and other things to be found there. Among these other things is a pot of gold.
- Lough Bracken is situated about a mile from Ballyshannon. It is on the left-hand side of the road above the Great Northern Station. It is said that an officer went to skate there after night. When he was skating he went into the middle where there is a spring, and the ice broke and he was drowned. Ever since that Lough is called Lough Bracken.
