Twenty head of cattle were drowned at Rossilly. The island of Inishat was cut off from the main land and and [sic] four houses that between Rossilly and the island were washed completely away.
Tables, chairs, beds, carts, drowned hens, dogs, cats and rabbits were strewn all over the fields for miles around. The people who lost their homes all left the district and the once thriving centre became the deserted village it is today.
