    spring water. Some of the butter was left for household use, the reminder was either put in a firkin, a butt, or made into what was called a [...] for marketing.
    Nowadays almost all the milk is sent to the creameries. In some places churning i still carried on, and in my opinion home made butter if properly made and kept scrupulously when is very much superior to any creamery butter, and good fresh buttermilk is certainly superior to the skim coming from the most up to date creamery.
