- In Aughlon, a man named Mr Devlin owns a farm. In one of his field there is a circular shaped fort. Every year when the cows were put into this field one died. One day a cow strayed into the fort and broke her leg. She was then killed and salted in a tub. Some days after, when the man took the lid off the tub to turn the pieces all the pieces were alive, jumped out of the tub and walked about the house. The fairies were supposed to have given the pieces life by their magic power in order to frighten Mr Devlin.
