boy "Three pounds of butter at one and four"--
man "One minute, sonny, till I write down the list. Three pounds of butter at one and four is four shillings...What next?"
boy "Six pounds of sugar at six-pence. Two pounds of streaky rashers at ten-pence half-penny a quart. Fourteen candles at two pence half-penny. Three tins of shoe-polish at four-pence half-penny. A quarter pound of tea at one and eight".
man "Is that all my lad? No sugar sweeties?"
boy "I thought you would give those in free Sir"
man "Well, I will. Here is a big box of chocolates as it is the Christmas season".
boy "How much does the bill come to Sir?"
