The lime for the building was burned at a place still known as the Lime kiln, a distance of about little more than a quarter of a mile from the Barracks. It was conveyed to the Barracks by mules and side boxes were used on the mules instead of the creels used on donkeys and horses in later years.The square in front of the main building and between the two side wings was paved with Dóirlíns which were got in Island Crone.(continues on next page)
