- Saint Carthage is traditionally connected with the district of Lismore particularly with the town itself. The Lismore Cathedral which is in use, was built in his honour and is called St Carthagh's Cathedral.Lismore Christian Brother's school is called Mount Saint Carthagh. Saint Carthagh or Mochuda was expelled from his monastery in Rahan. He founded a monastery in Lismore in the 1 th century. This monastery soon grew to be a great school to which students and religious came from all parts of Ireland. This monastery was often raided by the Dane.I have often heard the story about "The print of Saint Carthagh's Feet." This is the story. Our Saint was coming(continues on next page)
