The old Protestant Churchyard is very ancient. There are both Catholics and Protestants buried there. It dates back almost to the time of Saint Carthage. There are old tombstones erected both inside and outside the Cathedral. There is an ancient tomb erected to the memory of John McGrath and Katherine Thom[?] his wife. The figures on the side represent a Clergyman offering The Sacred Host, a heart pierced with swords with the words "Ave Maria" underneath; and a figure of our Saviour with the words Ecce Home" etc.
