The cow stood out before the old woman and asked her to milk her. She fetched a pail and milked the cow. When she looked at the pail it was full of butter. The cow asked her to come three times a day and milk her. On each occasion she carried home a pail of butter instead of a pail of milk. The fame of this little black cow spread through the whole country.It is said that she ploughed a passage for herself through the woods and forests that were near the Blackwater(continues on next page)
