  1. When a person dies the clock is stopped and is not put going again till the corpse has left the house. The cat is also put out. When the corpse is leaving the house (or the church) every seat in the house is knocked down on the floor as the corpse is being carried past, and the person who waits in the house puts (out) down a big (pail) pot of water and washes all the seats.
    When the corpse is being carried out the feet are brought out first, so that the person is not going against his will. Four men of the same name (surname) carry the coffin. The straw that the dead person is washed on must be put one side in a clean place outside where no one is tramping. All the pins which fastened the bed linen or curtains round the
