- In our districts there were several landlords who owned land. Fenwick is still the local landlord. He lives in England. General Stewart of Rockhill was also a local landlord. Some years ago the Stewarts sold back the land to the people around the district.Evictions had been carried out on this estate and the people had been planted on poorer land in this area. Their farms were used by the landlord. for his own use and the homesteads were cleared away. The Stewarts bought the estate from a former landlord. They are all dead and the Land Commission now owns their castle and lands.(continues on next page)
