- This battle was fought between the O'Donnells and the McSweeney's of the Fanad Peninsula. There is a cairn on the top of a hill called Mullach na Blath which is said to mark the burial place of some of those killed in the battle. There is a description of the battle in the old history of the district.I can't find any stories of a local character in connection with this battle.

- On St. Stephen's Day each year a Challenge Caman match took place between the men of Fanad North and Fanad South. The match took place on a large flat piece of ground at Ballymastocker Bay. This match lasted sometimes practically all day. Very often disturbances took place at the matches and sometimes the matches ended in a free fight. There is still living an old man named Stewart who is said to have been one of the best Caman players of his time.
